The college planning process is quite individualized and personal, but it does not have to be stressful. Epic Charter Schools' College and Career Readiness department has created many valuable tools and resources to help students adequately prepare for college.
COLLEGE PLANNING CHECKLISTS
At Epic Charter Schools, we believe it is never too early to begin preparing for college. We are here to support and guide students through the college planning process to ensure they have a smooth and successful transition from high school to college.
To help students actively prepare for college, we have created grade-level checklists.
ADMISSION & APPLICATIONS
Choosing the right college is an exciting step toward future academic and career goals. When exploring college options, important factors to consider include location, campus size, cost, academic programs, student life, and admission requirements.
Understanding the differences between colleges can help students make confident, informed decisions. Although all accredited colleges offer degrees and student support services, each institution provides unique opportunities that can shape the overall college experience and future career path.
General Information

Review college admission requirements and deadlines before applying.

Submit only one admission application per college.

Apply for college admission during your senior year of high school.

High school graduates are considered first-time/freshman applicants, even if they have earned college credit
through concurrent enrollment. -
Epic Charter Schools students should identify themselves as public school students on applications.
List Brianna Strickler (brianna.strickler@epiccharterschools.org) as your counselor on applications when requested. -
Students planning to graduate during 11th grade should complete both junior- and senior-year college planning activities and should not wait to reclassify before getting started.

Students planning to graduate mid-year during 12th grade should review college admission requirements, application deadlines, and spring-entry options well in advance of graduation.

Inclusive Postsecondary
Education Programs
Oklahoma offers comprehensive Inclusive Postsecondary Education Programs for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.These programs provide support for students to advance skills in the areas of independent living, social interaction, academics and employment. Oklahoma currently has three certificate programs that are designed by the United States Department of Education as comprehensive transition and postsecondary education programs for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Students enrolled in these programs may be eligible for federal financial aid obtained by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The Oklahoma Access and Achievement Scholarship provides educational benefits to Oklahoma residents with intellectual disabilities enrolled in comprehensive transition and postsecondary programs approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Students interested in applying for this scholarship may contact the institution's Financial Aid office for more information.
