About the Program
Epic Charter Schools welcomes all students regardless of race, culture, gender, or identity. Epic Charter Schools is an LGBTQ-affirming school and wants all of our students to feel welcomed and valued.Ā
Staticts from 2022 National Survey on LGBTQ Mental Health
45% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year.Ā
73% of LGBTQ youth reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety
58% of LGBTQ youth reported experiencing symptoms of depression
LGBTQ youth who found their school to be LGBTQ-affirming reported lower rates of attempting suicide, anxiety and depression.Ā
Events
Each month PRIDE offers at least two in-person gatherings and will offer more virtual experiences next year.
Student Organization
The PRIDE organization is a group of open-minded and accepting students that may be going through similar, or different experiences that you are going through. Students share, listen and learn from each other and from the group leader. Topics of discussion have included: different identities, the pride flags, LGBTQ+ history and current issues, art, media, self-esteem, body-image, acceptance, coming out, and more.Ā
